Boston (SmartAboutHealth) - According to the latest figured released by the government, the number of Americans living without health insurance has increased.

The numbers have been put out by the U.S. Census Bureau and needless to say they are pretty scary.

This comes at a time when President Barack Obama continues to push for health care reform to try and help bring health insurance to the masses.

The number of uninsured Americans has increased by 600,000 in the past year alone.

From 2007 to 2008, the total number of Americans without health insurance went up from 45.7 million to 46.3 million.

On top of that, there are now more American workers who no longer are covered by health insurance.

This comes as the number of people covered by Medicaid and Medicare continues to increase.

The only good news coming out of this latest release is that the number of children in the U.S. without health insurance is at its lowest point in 20 years.
