.Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - A panel of experts has come out and slammed the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for claiming that bisphenol A (BPA) is a safe chemical.
The panel was appointed by the FDA’s Science Board to review a report released on BPA.
They concluded that the FDA ruling last August was not the correct one.
Experts stated that the FDA simply ignored many valuable studies which have come out showing the dangers of BPA.
There have been many studies released as of late in regards to BPA being linked to many issues in kids as well as adults.
It is mainly found in plastics used to make baby bottles, infant formula containers, aluminum can linings, etc.
Studies have linked it to the development of diabetes, obesity, heart disease, autism, among other things such as developmental problems.
The panel is urging the FDA to throw out their past findinds, stating that the safety of BPA is not certain.
The new panel report wants the FDA to reduce the level of safe BPA exposure by factor of at least 10.
