Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - The new year 2009 is being greeted quite kindly with many new Relay for Life events set to take place.

The American Cancer Society is set to feature many Relay for Life events to help kick off the year 2009.

They are not only taking place in the U.S., but in 19 other countries around the world as well thanks to the International Relay for Life Program.

Relay for Life is the largest fundraising walk in the world and does wonders to raise money to fight cancer.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Relay for Life with events taking place around the world.

An example of one of the bigger events is set for Howard County on January 13, 2009.
