Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - The Mayo Clinic has teamed up with Microsoft to offer a new online service which will consist of free online personal health records.
The name of the new service is the Mayo Clinic Health Manager, and will run on the power of the Microsoft HealthVault.
The Microsoft HealthVault was created by the software giant as a platform for personal health records to be stored.
This is a web-based platform which will be used as the foundation for the Mayo Clinic service.
This is big news for both the Mayo Clinic as well as Microsoft as it marks the first move into the health care field for HealthVault to bring its tools to users.
This will allow patients to manage their personal health records online, giving them power and control over information, drugs, etc.
The Microsoft HealthVault made its debut in 2007 and has been tested out by many since.
The Mayo Clinic Health Manager will alert patients of information that will make their lifes easier to manage.
