Boston (SmartAboutHealth) - The shortage of nurses in the state of Texas may soon be reversed thanks to newly announced incentives.
As of right now, it is estimated that the shortage of nurses is at 22,000.
By the year 2020, if the current trend continues, the shortage of nurses would far outstrip the demand.
A new bill proposed by Rep. Lois Kolkhorst has passed the House in Texas, with the goal of creating incentives to reverse the shortage.
The incentives being put in place will spark great interest by potential nursing graduates.
The incentives will go to students and nursing schools who have high graduation rates.
With the plan in place, the shortage may be reversed by the year 2013.
