Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - A new report released just this week has revealed that teen births have increased in the U.S. for the second year in-a-row.
The report was released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and looked into the number of births in the year 2007.
What they found was that more babies were born in the year 2007 than in any other year in history.
One major cause for concern though was that the number of births among teenagers between teh age of 15 to 19 was also the highest it has ever been.
There has been an increase in regards to teen births since the year 2005, a trend that was in decline since 1991 before it took a turn for the worse.
The CDC did not cite a reason as to why there was such an increase in regards to teen births, but the statistics show that the trend is likely to continue.
Other areas of concern included a very high infant mortality rate.
The report was published in the December 21st edition of Pediatrics.
