Boston (SmartAboutHealth) - A new study has found that regular exercise can greatly help elderly cancer survivors, along with a good diet.
The RENEW trial, known as the Reach Out To Enhance Wellness trial, focused on 641 people who were 65 and older.
They all had cancer within the last five years, and had no recurrence at all. They suffered from breast cancer, prostate cancer, and other types of cancer.
They then tried to see how a good diet and exercise could help them.
Half were fixed with personal trainers while the other half were not. The half wi th the personal trainers were much healthier with lower body weight, better cardiovascular health, etc.
The study has been presented at the American Association for Cancer Research Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Conference.
