The study focused on 3,000 patients over the age of 75 and was led by Dr. Steven DeKosky of the University of Virginia School of Medicine.

The patients were monitored for 6-years at 5 different locations across the U.S.

For the study, they had half of the patients take two doses of 120 milligrams of the ginkgo extract daily.

The other half instead took two doses of a placebo every day.

Researchers concluded that the progression of dementia of Alzheimer’s was the same in both groups.

This shows that the herbal supplement did not help slow the progression of the disease.

The study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
