Boston (SmartAboutHealth) - A new Canadian campaign is urging citizens to take part in at-home testing for colorectal cancer.
The Canadian Health Research Institute has put out a recommendation to urge people to take part in in-home screening for the disease.
This is because when it is caught early, the survival rate is said to be over 90%..
Ontario is one of the hardest hit places in the world in regards to
colorectal cancer, and is the second deadliest type of cancer in that province.
The in-home tests are being urged to help stop the development of the cancer.
The test is known as the home fecal occult test. It works by screening blood in the stool, an early sign of the disease.
The hope is these tests can help detect more cases of colorectal cancer before they get worse.
