...Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - President-elect Barack Obama has some serious work to do once he gets into office to keep up the fight against HIV/AIDS.

President-elect Obama put out a message on the 20th anniversary of World AIDS Day, praising the work done by President George W. Bush.

The Bush Administration’s PEPFAR plan, which was put into place in 2003, has helped millions around the world get treatment for HIv/AIDS.

Bush even received the International Medal of PEACE from the Global PEACE Coalition on World AIDS Day.

These are big shoes for Obama to fill as he gets into office, and is expected to keep up the fight.

He has promised a National HIV/AIDS Strategy, to increase access to treatment, care, etc.

The overall goal is to pick up where Bush left off, and succeed it in many ways.
