...Boston (SmartAboutHealth) - According to a new study, your level of wealth may have a major impact on the development of your brain as a child.

The study was led by researchers from the University of California, Berkeley and focused on 26 children between the ages of 9 and 10.

Researchers focused in on the prefrontal cortex area of the brain, which has to do with problem solving, creativity, etc.

They wanted to see how wealth had an impact on the development of their brains.

When the study began, half of the the children were in low-income families, and the other half were in well-off families.

After giving them tests, they found that the children in low-income families had a harder time developing their brains compared to those in wealthy families.

The study was published in the Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience.

What a bunch of crapola. Perhaps Berkeley should do a study mapping intelligence to income. Then, after finish that one, so another study mapping intelligence of parents to their children. Oh.. wait.. those studies have been done.. many times.. Oh yea… smart people make more money.. What’s that? Smart people tend to have smart babies?!? How is this possible?!?! Wait… I know! It must be that lack of money directly affects the development of the brain!

Hence, the true importance of having real teachers. Not test teachers.

Hmm, they based their conclusions on 26 children ranging from 9-10 years old. No mention of demographics. In conclusive in my opinion.

so retarted, no offense to this study but a lot of low income people just have a non interactive baby sitter called the television, so the development has nothing to do with income level it’s about life style and how you are imersed into your childs life.

Are you suggesting that our President-elect Barack Obama and our Vice President-elect Joe Biden has problem with their brain developmen? They are from low-income families! Needless to say that most famous great inventors/scientists are from poor families. Albert Einstein was a poor low class working clerk when he figured out E=MC^2.
