Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - Two brands of peanut butter have been recalled by the Ohio-based food distributor King Nut after they tested positive for salmonella bacteria.
The King Nut peanut butter is not sold stores, but is instead distributed and used in hospitals, schools, restaurants, etc.
The company distributes peanut butter from the manufacturer Peanut Corporation of America.
Since the recall has been put into motion, they have canceled orders in place.
The two brands include King Nut peanut butter and Parnell’s Pride peanut butter.
Lot codes that are a part of the recall start out with the number eight according to the company.
Late last week, health officials in Minnesota confirmed that lab tests found salmonella bacteria in 5-pound containers of King Nut peanut butter.
The salmonella outbreak has sickened nearly 400 people across 42 states in the U.S. since September.
