A new study was led by James Abraham from West Virginia University and focused on smokers diagnosed with cancer.

The study focused on 1,000 smokers who were diagnosed with cancer between 2003 and 2007.

What researchers found was that the majority of smokers diagnosed with cancer did not quit during cancer treatment.

On top of that, just 62% were actually advised to stop smoking during cancer treatment.

Just 44% of smokers diagnosed with cancer actually quit during treatment.

Researchers are calling for intervention programs to help these smokers quit.

The study has been published in the Journal of Oncology Practices.
