2009 is not going so well in China as the nation of China is being hit hard by the H5N1 bird flu.

Since the new year began, the number of human deaths caused by the bird flu is now at 5.

The latest death was an 18-year old man. He was admitted to the hospital on January 24th in the province of Guangxi, in Yulin.

It is believed that this man contracted the H5N1 bird flu after coming in contact with dead poultry.

There is still the fear that the bird flu will mutate into a form that can be transmitted easily from human to human.
