Boston (SmartAboutHealth) - A new study published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation has found that drinks with fructose actually increase your risk of heart attack and stroke.
The study was carried out by researchers from the University of California at Davis, and was led by Peter Havel.
The 10-week study focused on how these drinks altered the body.
They compared those who consumed drinks with fructose to those who did not.
They discovered that consuming drinks with fructose actually caused a negative change to the body.
It not only led to an increase in weight, but also a change in terms of insulin resistance.
Over time, this has been found to actually increase their risk of cardiovascular disease in regards to heart attack and stroke risk.
