Boston (SmartAboutHealth) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is going to allow younger girls to have full access to Plan B, also known as the morning after pill.
A U.S. court ruled not long ago that girls who are 17-years-old should have access to the morning after pill.
The FDA has decided to not go against the U.S. court, as they too are going to allow this to take place.
The only thing standing in the way of this becoming a reality is a formal request by the manufacturer, which should be coming soon.
There has been a great deal of debate over this in the past few weeks and months.
Conservatives do not believe that it is good idea due to the fact that it could promote sexual activity among younger teens.
Those in favor though believe it will save many unwanted pregnancies.
The belief is that this was not a reality sooner due to the influence of the administration of former president George W. Bush.
