Boston (SmartAboutHealth) - Cell phones pretty much do everything. You can watch TV on them, check your e-mail, surf the internet, make phone calls, send text messages, watch movies, etc. But now, it seems like they may even be able to cure Alzheimer’s!
Researchers from the University of South Florida used cell phones to test out whether or not they could help reverse the impact of Alzheimer’s.
They carried out their study by exposing laboratory rats to cell phone waves or signals for extended periods of time.
The rats were all placed in a circle around a central antenna that would send off the cell phone signals.
They would expose the rats to these signals for 2 hours a day, for around 7 to 9 months.
What they found was pretty amazing, as they found that exposure to the signals actually helped fight memory loss associated with Alzheimer’s.
It helped reverse memory loss in rats who were already diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
On top of that, it prevented the disease for those who were genetically likely to develop it.
The study has been published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.
