nanoparticle_robots_cancerBoston (SmartAboutHealth) - Researchers have confirmed that they have been able take nanoparticle robots and use them to administer gene therapy to treat cancer in a whole new way.

The work was carried out by researchers from the U.S. who have been working on these little tiny nanoparticle robots for quite some time now.

These truly are incredible robots as they get into the body and actually have the ability to go right into the bloodstream of the patient who needs help.

Once they are in there, they can attack the cancer tumors using what is known as gene therapy.

The treatment method is known as RNA or rinobucleic acid, and is something being researchers to not only help cancer patients, but also those with AIDS and other diseases.

This is the first research to prove that this treatment actually works, as it is a phase 1 clinical trial.

Researchers tested this on patients with various types of tumors, and saw some incredible success rates in terms of the nanoparticles getting into the cancer tumor cells.

The research was reported on in the journal Nature.
