Richmond (SmartAboutHealth) - A 6-year-old boy from Virginia died after a visit to the dentist near his home.

The young boy, Jacobi Hill, was receiving treatment from a dentist at the Virginia Commonwealth University dental clinic when tragedy struck.

The 6-year-old boy went into cardiac arrest during the routine procedure of receiving anesthesia.

The dental treatment was being performed in order to put caps on many of his teeth.

Once the boy went into cardiac arrest, there was no way that anyone was going to be able to help him in time.

The 6-year-old unfortunately died and was later pronounced dead at the Viginia Commonwealth UNiversity Medical Center.

An investigation has been launched into the death of the 6-year-old boy, with the state medical examiner conducting an autopsy.

The boy did not have any known major health problems, but he did have asthma.

The mother, Crystal Lewis, took the boy to the doctors on Monday prior to the dental treatment to see if he would be fine for the procedure, she was told he would.

There is still no word on what actually caused the death of this young child.
