.Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning to Bayer AG in regards to two over-the-counter aspirin products they sell.
These aspirin products both contain dietary supplements and are known as Bayer Aspirin with Heart Advantage, and Bayer Women’s Low Dose Aspirin + Calcium.
The FDA issued the warning to Bayer AG as they believe that the clams made by the company in regards to the products mislead customers.
The FDA has made it clear in the warning that the products are not FDA approved, and are actually illegal to be sold.
Bayer AG has come to the defense of their drugs, stating that their advertisements inform buyers to check with doctors before taking the drugs.
The Bayer Aspirin with Heart Advantage says that it can control cholesterol, while the other drug claims it can help make bones stronger, and fight osteoporosis.
The FDA wrote in their October 27th warning letter “These statements on the labeling send consumers a mixed message about the purpose of the product and the duration for which it can be safely used.”
The FDA is seeking clear action as Bayer has to respond within 15 days.
