Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - A new study has found that the Merck and Co. vaccine Gardasil is not just for girls as it helps boys as well.
A new study has found that the Gardasil vaccine helps boys prevent the development of the wart virus.
Researchers were led by Anna Giuliano of the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Florida.
What they found was that the vaccine was 90% effective in preventing these lesions in males.
This shows that males can greatly benefit from receiving the vaccine.
It performed best in preventing sexually transmitted warts from developing.
Merck is expected to submit an application to the FDA for the approval of Gardasil for men ages 9 to 26.
