Researchers have found that supplements of vitamin C or vitamin E do not help prevent or fight cancer in any way...........Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - Researchers have found that supplements of vitamin C or vitamin E do not help prevent or fight cancer in any way.

This is according to the Physicians’ Health Study II carried out by researchers from the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

The study was carried out for 10-years and focused on 14,600 male doctors in the U.S. who were all above the age of 50.

The doctors were split up into four groups in total. One group took 400 IU of vitamin E every other day, and that group was compared to another group on a placebo.

A third group took vitamin C daily in a supplement form, and that group was compared to another group of doctors who only took a placebo.

After watching them for 10 years, they found that overall 1,929 cancer cases developed, with 1,013 prostate cancer cases.

There was no difference though in the groups on the vitamin C or vitamin E supplements compared to the placebo.

The study was shown at a meeting hosted by the American Association for Cancer Research.
