..............Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - According to a new study, men cannot prevent prostate cancer with vitamin C and vitamin E supplements.

A new study was carried out on 14,600 male doctors from across the U.S. who were split up into a total of four groups.

In the first group, the doctors received a 400 IU dose of vitamin E every other day along with a 500 milligram dose of vitamin C daily.

In the second group, vitamin E was taken along with a placebo.

The third group had the doctors take just vitamin C and a placebo, while the fourth group took placebos alone.

Researchers monitored them for a total of 8 years and found that the risk of cancer was consistent no matter which vitamins they took.

The vitamins were not found to decrease the risk of prostate cancer in any way.

The study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
