Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - Amgen Inc., a unit of Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. has announced the suspension of a late-stage trial of a new experimental lung cancer drug.
The new lung cancer drug was known as motesanib and was seen as a very promising drug for the long-term health of lung cancer patients.
The drug was designed to be taken along with other drugs such as carboplatin, as well as paclitaxel.
What they found in the late-stage trial though was that it was linked to increased levels of early deaths.
Due to this fact, Amgen has pulled the plug on the study and has seen shares drop since.
