Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - Geron Corp., a California biotechnology company has been given approval to begin the first human stem cell trial. So what can we expect out of this?
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Geron to begin the first human stem cell trial. This will put human embryonic stem cells to use, and is believed to be something that could truly advance medicine as we know it.
The first human stem cell trial is going to consist of a total of 10 patients who all suffered crushed spinal cords.
The hope is that they will be able to repair these people with human embryonic stem cells.
They will do this by injecting them human embryonic stem cells to try and regrow tissue in the body.
In the future, the hope is that they will be used to regrow nerve tissues in patients with other problems as well.
Many see this is as something that can take off under the new President Barack Obama era.

They already succeeded in this with adult stem cells.
Using embryos instead is wrong AND unnecessary.
Adult stem cell research is more promising, and supported by almost everyone… so who is REALLY trying to divide the country?
