tylenol_recall_knowWashington (SmartAboutHealth) - With the recent expansion of a drug recall confirmed by Johnson & Johnson, many consumers have questions about popular pain relievers such as Motrin, Tylenol, and others.

Johnson & Johnson announced an expanded recall of over-the-counter pain relievers with brands such as Motrin, St. Joseph, Tylenol, and others just a few days ago.

With this announcement, there are quite a few people out there who do not understand what it all means, and how it impacts them.

To put it simply, the recall was confirmed by McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson.

The recall was due to a moldy odor that was coming out of the containers of these drugs.

The reason for this was due to a chemical that was found to be in the cases when they were shipped. The chemical is known as 2,4,6-tribromoanisole (TBA). This chemical is often used to treat wood that shipping pallets are made from.

The odor is said to cause nausea, stomach pains, among other issues.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has put out a warning letter as they will look further into the drugs.

The voluntary recall consists of Tylenol, Benadryl, Motrin, Rolaids, Simply Sleep, and St. Joseph’s medications.

The company is under a lot of heat as it is believed that they have known of this issue for quite some time.
