Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - Researchers are afraid of new smokeless tobacco products that come in the form of candy as they believe that the products may appeal too much to kids, and could actually lead to nictone poisoning.
Health researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health, along with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are trying to fight these products as they could mean bad news for kids and the future of nicotine addiction in the U.S.
These new smokeless tobacco products are being marketed to adults.
The whole idea behind them is to allow adults to get their fix of nicotine in places where smoking is no longer allowed.
Instead of having to light up a cigarette, they could instead use this smokeless candy product and get their fix that way of the drug.
Camel Orbs is the name of this new smokeless tobacco product, manufactured by R.J. Reynolds.
The company argues that their product is safe, and is aimed at adults, and also comes in a child-proof package.
As more and more cities in the U.S. ban smoking in public locations, the use of smokeless tobacco products will likely increase.
