Boston (SmartAboutHealth) - Oakland has stirred the pot so to speak as they have approved the development of marijuana factories in the state.
This landmark decision came down this week as Oakland approved a plan to regulate and allow for the development of large marijuana growers who could help with the demand for more supply within the city and abroad.
The city council in Oakland has voted in favor of giving licenses to 4 very large marijuana production plants or factories if you will.
Within these plants, these companies will be able to grow, package, and send out the marijuana.
Oakland has made history here as they are the first city to allow for this type of mass production of pot.
These marijuana factories would be heavily regulated and will be subjected to taxes, etc. The key here though is that there really is no limit to how big they get.
Those in favor of the plan believe that it could help Oakland’s economy immensely.
This comes as California voters are set to vote on the legalization of recreational marijuana this fall.
