Boston (SmartAboutHealth) - One of the biggest topics in the presidential election is health care, as many want to know who can do the best to help out uninsured Americans, Barack Obama or John McCain.
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and Republican candidate John McCain have been going toe to toe on health care for months now.
The new president will step in this coming January and will have to try and fix the issue of health coverage in the U.S
As of right now, there are 47 million Americans without health insurance.
Under the Obama plan, a new national exchange will be set up for income-related subsidies for health insurance.
On top of that, he also wants to expand the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, as well as Medicaid.
Overall, he wants to basically try and push employer-based health insurance.
McCain on the other hand wants to give a tax credit of $5,000 to families and $2,500 to individuals to let them goa nd buy health insurance.
This would increase premium payments for families though.
Overall, experts have stated that the Obama plan would do far better in terms of actually reducing the number of uninsured Americans.
