Investigators believe that the source of the salmonella outbreak may actually be the Georgia plant of Peanut Corp. of America...........Washington (SmartAboutHealth) - Investigators believe that the source of the salmonella outbreak may actually be the Georgia plant of Peanut Corp. of America.

The salmonella outbreak has hit 43 states in the U.S. since September, leading to nearly 500 people falling ill.

It is also believed to be linked to a total of 6 deaths across the U.S. as well.

The CDC, FDA, as well as others have been working to find the source of the outbreak.

To this point, over 120 peanut butter products have been recalled by Kellogg, and other companies.

Investigators believe they have their source though, the Peanut Corp. of America plant in Blakely, Georgia.

They produce peanut butter and peanut paste here that is sold to institutions, distributors, and food companies.

We will not know for some time if this is the exact source, but all signs as of right now make it look to be true.
