For women looking to become pregnant listen up as new guidelines have been released pertaining to how much weight you should gain during your pregnancy
Boston (SmartAboutHealth) - For women looking to become pregnant listen up as new guidelines have been released pertaining to how much weight you should gain during your pregnancy.

The guidelines are recommended to women looking to become pregnant so that if followed, their pregnancies will not be put at risk because of excess weight that is being carried around by the mom to be.

For women who are deemed underweight at time of pregnancy, the guidelines recommend gaining between 28 and 40lbs.

For women of a normal weight at time of their pregnancies it is recommended that they gain between 25 and 35lbs during their pregnancy.

For women considered overweight during pregnancy it is recommended that they gain up to 25lbs during pregnancy.

Those women who are obese at time of their pregnancies are only recommended to gain up to 20lbs throughout their term.

The guidelines also stress that during second and third trimesters, weight gain should come in the form of 1lb a week.
