Cleveland - An anesthesiologist from Ohio is likely to blame for the death of a woman who developed meningitis.

The woman was initially treated at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and the doctor in question did not wear a mask while she was giving birth.

Susan Ryan Finch Simpson, 30, died from meningitis back in May and the strain she had contracted was identical to that found in a second female patient both of which had been treated by the same anesthesiologist.

Other health care workers who worked alongside the doctor did not see him coughing or exhibit any signs or symptoms that he was carrying the bacteria.

The other victim is alive and recovering from her ordeal.

The anesthesiologist in question has not been identified but has stopped working for now.
